The Cold War continues its icy passage towards the end of the 1980s, and in Berlin a British car salesman, cum industrial espionage rookie, tries desperately to juggle a struggling business, a wife who isn't all she seems, a mistress who insists on prancing around half naked and an irate senior agent from intelligence headquarters. 'Who Killed the Ship's Captain?' by Chris Martin

'An evening of one acts 2009'  by various

The return of the one act plays to Standlake! In 2009 we offered an amusing collection of performances ranging from a doomed village fete to a pleasant afternoon chat on the sea front. Our most ambitious one act evening to date required, at one stage, turning the stage into a tea tent, and drenching half the cast in water!

Journey into the incredible world of Alan Felix as he voyages through the ups and downs of an extraordinary love life. Friends Dick and Linda accompany Alan during his travails, and are also joined by a certain illusory Humphrey Bogart!
'Death by Radio' by Peter Falcone

An air raid, rations, tin helmets, gas masks, and murder most foul?! It can only be the Standlake Players' second murder mystery evening! When the cast and crew of the popular wartime radio show 'The Mystery of the Mummy's Curse' are forced out of their cosy BBC recording studio to a suburban borough hall the worst that can happen is being stuck in an air raid, isn't it?....

'The Unvarnished Truth' by Royce Ryton

Tom Bryce loves his wife, he really does, but he's a bit of an idiot, a romantic fool, and a hopeless liar. 'An evening of one acts 2008'  by various

What do an undertaker, housewife with post natal depression, two suburban couples and a toy called Mr Poddle have in common? The Standlake Players first evening of One Act Plays that's what! Our three comedies provided a range of stories for audiences returning after our first dramatic outing, and judging from the reception we received after these shows, they weren't disappointed!
'Who killed the headmaster?' by Chris Martin

Our first show! What better way to start then with a classic murder mystery. In this dastardly dark play our audiences enjoyed a glimpse into the goings on of a 1930s public school where all is not well. When the hopelessly inefficient but amiable headmaster is found slumped over his desk quite dead, we can only guess who the evil killer, or killers are...
