This year we enjoyed a play written by one of our own, Phil
Birkett. Teething Troubles is a one act that covers a typical late afternoon in
the life of Jane, a glamorous Granny who spends most day baby sitting her
Granddaughter Dakota. Having recently split from her scheming, drunkard and
hopeless husband Richard, Jane wants to enjoy some quiet time after an
exhausting day of ignoring Dakota's regular crying sessions, however not only do
her son-in-law, daughter and Richard turn up. What's worse Richard has arrived
well oiled and is full of fresh overtures for Jane, leaving her in two minds
about their relationship again!
However when Richard's shady Russian 'business partner'
Vladimir enters the scene with Katya the Bryansk bombshell in tow the scales
begin to fall from Jane's eyes. What do Vladimir, Katya and Richard want? Will
Dakota stop crying and will Jane ever get to watch her quiz show? |

It's 1950's Italy, approaching midnight, in an up market flat, a shadowy figure enters from the window but little does this intruder know what sordid goings on he is breaking in on.
A selection of intrigues follow as our hapless burglar hero stumbles in and out
of a huge Grandfather clock surrounded by a bunch of upper class husbands and
wives all desperate to cover up their infidelities. Not only does he have this group to contend with, but also his own wife who refuses to allow him to carry out a nice quiet evening of burgling. This quick fire farce provides a humorous travail through married life, theft, affairs, moral high and low grounds and huge bunches of keys! Our audiences held on tight, paid close attention and enjoyed Dario Fo's the Virtuous Burglar. |
